

Three months at the American Academy in Rome will be awarded to the winner of the Terna Prize 02 for contemporary art in the “Connectivity” category which is dedicated to Italian and foreign artists who work in New York permanently. A true “full immersion” experience into the art and history to broaden one’s professional and artistic aptitudes and to have a better understanding of the humanistic Western heritage. While at the American Academy in Rome, which is one of the most innovative research centers on the Italian scene and privileged destination for all creative young people in the world, the winner will be able to develop all phases of his own project which will end with a real event. The winner, who will have a large “studio” with panoramic view on the Eternal City, will be included in the Affiliated Fellows program, thereby continuing his own artistic journey through the participation in laboratories, exhibits and events, having the opportunity to measure up to an encouraging and international environment. Numerous activities are foreseen, such as visits to archaeological sites, tours to places of cultural interest, classes and seminars held by influential artists and scholars, laboratories and the chance to utilize a collection of over 135,000 volumes in the “Arthur and Janet C. Ross” Library, a wealth of books ranging from the field of ancient studies to art history and architecture. The artists who will come second and third in this category will receive purchase bonuses in the amounts of 4 thousand and 3 thousand dollars respectively.
