Artwork description:
Glitches are the new drips. The pixel acts as paint.
Source material jammed into a slide mount is scanned. During this process the slide is manipulated by hand much like a DJ manipulates vinyl. Often several slides are composited into a mash-up. The resultant digital files, and the prints they spawn, are non-musical, or rather, noisy. They are the visual equivalent of dragging a stylus across grooves. They are aleatory. They are about John Cage through Terminator X. They are beautiful.
A slide/digital image is a record. They are akin to the red wheelbarrow in William Carlos Williams' poem of the same name. So much depends upon them, especially for the young artist.
Source material for this particular piece includes a plastic grocery bag, an element that has been recycled into art instead of thrown away.
